Just a Little Peak

Here are a couple of Images I produced last year for Edinburgh Zoo promotion. These are two original images sans text and logos.

You might recognize the lion as my header. There were three originally but I seem to have lost the third, which is a huge shame as I'm very proud of them.

Lots of work on the go at the moment but I'l try to get a post up about that soon,

Autumn

I'm on October break at the moment and while I've been doing a bit of college work and making some progress on pieces for my Mum's salon (also getting the 'With Love' Facebook page up and running), mostly I've just been enjoying the weather.

I think this must be my favorite time of year. While I enjoy every season I just cant get over how colorful and beautiful autumn is. Everything changes, the trees go from lively greens to vibrant oranges and drop, the nights start rolling in faster and it becomes colder. Candy apples, Pumpkins, Halloween, Guy Fawkes night, my Mum's birthday.

A lot of people really don't enjoy the cold at all, but I prefer to wrap up rather than trying to cool down in the blazing heat. Chris and I are eagerly anticipating the snow, and later, the ice for pond skating. Also the clothes! Woolly hats, gloves, scarfs, bobbles, jumpers thick socks and jackets .

On Tuesday Chris and I took a walk in the park to feed the ducks. We go a lot and we know to avoid the big scary swans when they're out of the water and which ones hiss.

Inverleith Park is just beautiful at the moment and a lot quieter now that its become a bit nippy. Still, there were plenty of people with their dogs. On our way home there was a couple walking behind us with a puppy whose name was Sherlock; isn't that just adorable?

I have alot of posts ready and waiting to go. Tomorrow I'm going to do a photo an hour. Then it'll probably be an update on my college work as we're back on Monday and it's go, go, go! But stay tuned for more exciting stuff (like introductions to my furry friends and pets).

I hope you're all enjoying your October breaks and really getting the best out of this wonderful season!

1 Minute Brief

Over the weekend our class was given a super quick brief. It was for an article in the Spectrum ( a leading Scottish Sunday newspaper) which was on menopause.

Obviously its a pretty touchy subject and any piece we created would have to be tasteful. It wasn't an easy project But it's such an amazing opportunity! To be published would be so wonderful. I had two quite strong ideas and still I'm unsure if I made the right decision, but a choice had to be made.

They were such different Ideas and they became very different pieces. The one I ended up going with was dark and perhaps a bit morbid. However, this piece which may be my favorite, is quiet bright and colourful. I just didn't think this would be understood immediately. My twist on it here is that she's reached the winter of her life and her petals while still beautiful are beginning to wilt and soon she will no longer be able to bloom, seed and produce fruit.

Il see what happens, it's very exciting. For the moment though there are plenty other projects to be working on, we have an animation brief on the go, which I will post about soon. Also there's gonna be some other personal posts coming up.

Thanks for reading,

My First Post!

Hello! this will be my first blog. On here I will be posting my art work, both college and personal work. My inspirations, my day to day life and any cute stuff I come across.

My name is Kirsty Sarah Jane Darroch. I am an Illustration student from Edinburgh, Scotland. I mostly spend my time drawing, going to college, ice-skating, pouring over animals, charity shopping, going to the movies and trying to cook. So on we go!
